I screwed up today (and still won)

Today was a very perturbing kind of day.

The room knows everything that happened today because I don’t BS anybody. There were some monster trades today. And I personally screwed a couple of them up.

Instead of scaling out of a position, which I usually do on shorts, I decided to push the issue and turned winning trades into massive losses. I addressed it to the room. I explained exactly how I screwed them up.

But here's the most important part: the trades actually worked. It was me who screwed them up.

Let's talk about the wins first. 

I mentioned shorting McDonald's ($MCD). This trade was epic. We had an entry at $292 and an exit at $285.

That’s a 7-point trade for $2,100 right at the start of the day. Have a nice day.

But then there was the theme of the day: if you overstayed your welcome on a short, you got annihilated.

Look at DoorDash ($DASH).

I shorted it at $179. It went to $172. A pretty awesome trade! But I didn't get out. 

I got squeezed, took a small loss, got aggravated, and shorted it again. Then I went crazy and added 1,000 shares down at $168 at the worst possible price.

I got smoked for 4 points. A $4,000 hit. I don't usually take $4,000 hits. But it was a one-minute multi-day VWAP reversal, the setup worked perfectly initially, and I let my emotions ruin it.

When you stray from the regimented, monotonous path of how we trade, you get crushed.

But the trades themselves are intact.

Then, there was $IONQ. It was a perfect blue-line to orange-line trade. Bought at $49, sold at $51.

AppLovin ($APP) was absolutely insane. 

Entry at $468, went all the way to $433. 

But if you didn't cover there, the stock ended up rallying 59 points against you.

The trades are working. App worked, Dash worked, McDonald's worked, and IonQ worked. 

But if you didn't take your profit on them, you got smoked.
